Charles Oliveira to Fight Beneil Dariush at UFC 286, May 6

Charles Oliveira Confirmed To Fight Beneil Dariush At UFC 288

#1 ranked Lightweight Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira is set to face #4 Beneil “Benny” Dariush at UFC 288 on May 6. This follows a Tweet by Álvaro Colmenero stating that “Diego Lima, Charles Oliveira’s manager and coach, confirmed to me that Oliveira will fight Beneil Dariush on May 6 at UFC 288.”

Per @KOlmenero on Twitter:

Oliveira vs Dariush

Both men will be looking to secure a title shot in their next bout if they win. Oliveira lost the title due to weight complications at UFC 274 back in May last year, he then missed the chance to claim the vacant title when Islam Makhachev finished him with an arm triangle at UFC 280. Makhachev fights Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284, and whomever is the champion by the time Oliveira and Dariush fight, it is uncertain.

Beneil Dariush has been in the title picture for a while, stringing together 7 straight victories and dispatching with some elite opposition. Dariush was scheduled to face current champ Islam Makhachev on several occasions, but the fight couldn’t be made. He now has his shot to beat a former champion and guarantee a title fight in his next appearance.
