Marvin Vettori will fight Brendan Allen in the main event of UFC Vegas 89 on April 6, 2024. The UFC announced the middleweight matchup on January 3.
#5 ranked Vettori has been a middleweight mainstay for several years, and even fought for the middleweight title in a rematch against Israel Adesanya in 2021. “The Italian Dream” hasn’t had a winning streak since 2021, going for win-for-loss in five appearances. On the other hand, #8 Allen is on a six-fight winning streak since his shock knockout loss to Chris Curtis in 2021.
The fight will likely be for top-five status if not title contention. The winner could face the victor between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297 on January 20 – possibly in a spot on UFC 300 if the promotion decides to rush the matchup.
