Josh Emmett left Bryce Mitchell seizing on the floor at UFC 296, after sparking him with a thunderous overhand right just two minutes into the very first round.
Emmett — one of the hardest hitters in featherweight history — stalked Mitchell throughout the opening minutes. “Thug Nasty” was clearly apprehensive of Emmett’s power, opting to attack the legs with swooping leg kicks. Emmett attacked low, throwing a jab feint and slamming the body with a right hook; this only served to bait Mitchell into lowering his guard.
Just before the second minute passed, Emmett went to the bank with his body shot feint and switched it up, throwing a tremendous overhand right straight to the jaw of Mitchell. Mitchell fell stiff as a board and fortunately Emmett didn’t follow up with any more shots.
“Thug Nasty” was twitching on the ground for a good minute before UFC officials raised him to his feet – much to the anger of commentators Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier.
Emmett ends his two-fight losing streak whilst simultaneously handing Mitchell his first out-cold knockout loss.
