In one of the hottest fights of the night, undefeated brit Jack Shore faces flaming hot prospect Timur Valiev. This is a battle of grapplers, but how does the British phenom measure up against the Dagestani wrestling threat?
Jack Shore vs Timur Valiev Prediction
As mentioned before, Shore vs Valiev is a matchup of grappling. Shore has the edge in this department, with his slick takedowns and exceptional top pressure. He’s 3 inches taller than Valiev, so he should have a more imposing frame on the ground. Having a longer frame in grappling means having better takedown defense, more freedom for submission attempts, and the ability to secure takedowns easier, since longer arms can link around the opponent’s body easier.
You can’t count out the Dagestani wrestling coming from Valiev, which could well be a great equalizer against Shore in this fight. In this situation, we may see an Usman v Colby situation where two grapplers stand and bang for the entire fight. In this case, it does look like Shore has the advantage.
Shore’s striking is long and crisp, his boxing is great, and he’s ready and willing to punish opponents for capitalizing on any openings he creates. In addition to this, Timur Valiev’s last fight was against the superb Raoni Barcelos, who almost knocked him out, but went on to lose the fight by a sketchy majority decision. Shore no doubt has stronger striking than Barcelos, he’s also taller and has better cardio. Because of these factors, I have Shore by unanimous decision.
My pick – Jack shore by UD
