Kicking off our UFC 275 early prelims, Hong Kong’s Ramona Pascual looks to get back in the win column after a rocky debut. Welcoming Pascual back to the octagon is UFC mainstay Joselyne “La Pantera” Edwards. This is a deceptively good striking matchup, as both women have finished more than 80% of their victories. How could it play out?
Ramona Pascual vs Joselyn Edwards Prediction
This is the second Ramona Pascual fight I’ve predicted, since singing her praises in her February matchup against Josiane Nunes. I thought since she had a background in rugby and some achievements in competitive grappling, that she’d stand more of a chance than people were giving her credit for. I was incredibly wrong, as she showed no grappling prowess, and threw strikes like she was underwater. Nunes beat her handily and her uneducated looping overhands couldn’t miss. Pascual had good knees in the clinch, but that’s about all she had going for her.
She’s going to have a tough outing against Edwards, who is a lengthy striker with solid grappling. Although she’s on a 2 fight skid, those two opponents were strong wrestlers who held her down for boring decisions. Joselyne is a scrapper, she will beat Ramona to the punch, and Ramona doesn’t have the grappling pedigree to nullify her on the ground. Because of this I see Edwards winning a unanimous decision.
MY pick – Joselyne Edwards by UD
