Curmel Moton has improved to 5-0 in professional boxing with a quick finish over Victor Vazquez at the Mayweather vs. Gotti 2 event on August 25.
Moton is a protégé of Mayweather, training under his guidance with The Money Team. Mayweather has been praising him since his amateur fights:
“He [Curmel Moton] is destined to be great,” Mayweather told FightHype. “He’s destined to be great; remember I told you that. You know, amateur boxing… it’s good, but all that is is a bunch of sparring, getting you ready for the professionals.“
With this victory, Moton notches his fourth knockout and edges closer to the top ranks. He is currently the No. 112 ranked super featherweight, per BoxRec, and his name value will only serve as a jump pad to the higher echelons of the division.
Author’s Fantasy Matchmaking
It doesn’t make much sense in terms of divisions, but I’d like to see Tenshin Nasukawa vs. Curmel Moton. At Super Bantamweight, Nasukawa is two divisions lighter, but both fighters are on a similar trajectory. Nasukawa has a history with Mayweather from their RIZIN exhibition in 2019, and it would be a great opportunity to avenge that blemish.
