Undefeated three-weight champion Shakur Stevenson addressed concerns surrounding his underwhelming performance against Edwin De Los Santos on November 16. Fans expressed disappointment as both Stevenson and his opponent managed to land only single-digit power punches in each round of their 12-round bout. De Los Santos, in fact, secured a record for the lowest number of punches landed in a 12-round fight, at 40.
In a post on November 17, Stevenson explained that he wasn’t “100 percent” on the night, and that “a bad night don’t make me”:
“Wasn’t 100 percent tonight no excuses but anybody wit 2 eyes know the real but look.. One day they wit u next day they hate I love it 21-0 see y’all next time out, Oh yeah if u don’t wanna watch don’t f****** watch Y’all can’t break me and a bad night don’t make me.”

Stevenson’s post was met with positive praise by Jake Paul, who is on his own self-admitted journey to become a legitimate professional boxer:
Stevenson’s recent performance marks one of the most disappointing title fights in recent memory. However, considering his age and experience, it’s reasonable to expect and accept that he may encounter an underwhelming bout at some point.
