UFC 272: Maryna Moroz vs Mariya Agapova Prediction & Betting

Kicking off the main prelims is a battle between two flyweight contenders with very similar first names. Maryna Moroz is a relatively unheard of fighter, but she’s been in the UFC since 2015, going 5-3 in the promotion. Mariya Agapova is still new to the UFC, and is looking to distance herself ever further from that embarrassing loss to Shana Dobson in 2020.

If either woman gets a win here, they could be one or two fights away from title contention, so what’s the rundown?

See my other predictions here, see how you compare!

Moroz is a standup fighter with exceptional ground game. In her UFC tenure she’s fought, beaten, and lost to some of the best WMMA fighters in the division, such as Angela Hill and Carla Esparza. Agapova is still a bit of a mystery because of her massive upset defeat to Dobson, when she was at her most hyped.

The issue with Agapova is how she was so easily controlled by Dobson won on paper had nothing for Agapova in any facet of the fight. Moroz is a major step up in competition for Agapova, since Moroz has good, crisp striking, and effective ground control. Moroz likes to take center control, and whilst she doesn’t land often, she does have good kicks that keep her opponents on the outside.

It’s hard to pick Agapova in this fight. Moroz has been around longer, fought the better fighters, and should have a wealth of crafty veteran experience to play with coming into the fight. My prediction is Maryna Moroz by unanimous decision.

My pick – Moroz by UD
