Crowd favourite ‘Meatball’ Molly McCann goes to war with established UFC flyweight Luana ‘Dread’ Carolina. A meatball fight is always exciting, she’s currently on a 1 fight winning streak after going to battle with Ji Yeon Kim last September. Carolina has put 2 wins together since losing by kneebar to Ariane Lipski back in 2020.

Molly McCann vs Luana Carolina Prediction
Molly is a boxer first and foremost. She’s heavy on the front foot and likes to throw herself in range so that she can go to work with her boxing. This is something she has to do since she is regularly outsized in her fights, standing at 5’4. Luana Carolina is 3 inches taller at 5’7, so Molly will probably be using this patented forward pressure.
Whilst not the most technically sound, or well rounded fighter, Molly more than makes up for it with heart, grit, and determination. Her method of aggression isn’t uneducated, she knows she can outlast her opponents and drag them into deep water. This happened with Ji Yeon Kim, who was putting it on Molly until she started to fade, then Molly took over. This durability is a double edged sword, whilst she has incredible heart, she also gets hit a lot.
The UFC matchmakers knew what they were doing with this fight, as Luana Carolina is a brawler. Carolina is a rangy striker, and could cause all sorts of havoc for McCann with her knees and elbows. However, there is one glaring flaw with Carolina’s style that Meatball might take advantage of.
Carolina’s striking is lethal, but rudimentary. When she attacks, she tends to wing her arms, exposing her body and chin. An accomplished striker like McCann should be able to capitalise on this weakness with straight punches and takedowns.
McCann should be able to beat Carolina to the punch in this fight, so I have McCann by unanimous decision.
