Ex-UFC Veteran Snaps Decade-Long 11-Fight Losing Streak

Bigfoot Silva

Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva has finally ended his slew of losses with a draw against Juan Espino at La Despedida on March 23.

Silva studded his resume with impressive wins over MMA legends such as Fedor Emelianenko and Alistair Overeem, before embarking on one of the most brutal losing streaks in MMA history.

After finishing Overeem at UFC 156, ‘Bigfoot’ dropped four fights in a row before picking up another knockout against Soa Palelei at UFC 190. This would be the last victory for over nine years for the Brazilian heavyweight, who went on to lose 11 straight fights.

Nine of those 11 losses came by stoppage, including bare-knuckle bouts, kickboxing, boxing, and MMA. He even fought kickboxing world champion Rico Verhoeven, who steamrolled ‘Bigfoot’ with a head kick in the second round.

Silva “100 per cent” retired in an Instagram post made after his 11th straight loss at the hands of Salim El Ouassaidi in 2023, but promptly unretired to fight Espino less than a year later.

“We never want to stop,” Silva wrote. “No professional athlete wants to stop, even in volleyball or football, but everything has a time, and I did this for 19 years.”

Fans would hope that Silva ends his career on this bittersweet note, and not find inspiration to chase a solid victory – one which has eluded him since 2015.
