Just Bleed Report- UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs Araujo

UFC fight Night Grasso vs Araujo

The Just Bleed Score Explained

The Just Bleed Score is a creation of my own, and is original to The Fight Fanatic. The Just Bleed Score tallies a fight card's fighters, their win rate, and their finish rates. I then calculate their 'Don't Blink' rating (the higher the number the better chance they'll do something exciting in the fight), and create an event score.

This score is designed to determine how exciting the fight card should be on paper.

UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs Araujo

UFC Fight Night 212 doesn’t look much on paper, and has been plagued by some high profile dropouts. By losing the Neil Magny vs D-Rod matchup, and Joanderson Brito’s original opponent, the score differs slightly from its maximum potential.

This event is best described as having underrated potential:

  • Cub Swanson makes an appearance, taking on Jonathan Martinez
  • Jordan Wright (100% finish rate) squares off against Dusko Todorovic
  • The second appearance of Japanese phenom Tatsuo Taira
  • UFC veteran Rafael Assuncao fights the crafty Danny Henry
  • Heavy-handed Alonzo Menifield clashes with Misha Cirkunov
  • Top ranked flyweights fight for title contention in Brandon Royval and Askar Askarov

In truth there’s a lot of fights here that deserve the headliner much more than Grasso and Araujo (no disrespect intended). We’re seeing the elevation of UFC new-blood (Taira, Martinez, Henry) as they butt heads with some of the sturdiest veterans around. I’m excited, and you should be too.

Don’t Blink When You Watch THESE Fights

Jordan Wright vs Dusko Todorovic

Jordan Wright (12-3, 100% finish rate) is a karate style striker, he takes on Dusko Todorovic (11-3, 90.91% finish rate)

Pete Rodriguez vs Mike Jackson

Pete Rodriguez (100% finishes in 4 wins) fights the infamous Mike Jackson to open the night. This should be a demolition job for Rodriguez so it’s worth the watch.

Alonzo Menifield vs Misha Cirkunov

Menifield (92% finishes) is geared to take Cirkunov’s head off in the opening seconds, but he does have an underrated submission game.

Honourable Mentions

  • Cub Swanson vs Jonathan Martinez – Swanson is always game and has ruthless striking. Martinez is a consummate mixed martial artist, cold and predicted.
  • Rafael Assuncao vs Danny Henry – Assuncao is as rounded and experienced as they come, he takes on Danny Henry, a fluid but relentless pressure fighter who debuted with a clinic over the highly touted Raoni Barcelos
  • Tatsuro Taira vs C.J. Vergara – Taira is a 22 year-old Japanese talent with equal strength on the feet or the ground, he is undefeated at 11-0. C.J. Vergara is game and has a tough test to face.
  • Brandon Royval vs Askar Askarov – Top ranked flyweights (which should really be headlining the card) go at it for a shot at the title.
