UFC Champ Leon Edwards Roasts ‘Least Intimidating’ Welterweight Rival

Leon Edwards Roasts Welterweight Rival: 'Least Intimidating' Fighter in UFC

UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammad is keen to remind Leon Edwards that he deserves the next shot at the British champion.

Currently holding the #2 spot in the welterweight rankings, Muhammad is on a nine-fight win streak. The consensus among fans — regardless of their opinion of him — is that he undeniably deserves the chance to contend for the title.

Edwards and Muhammad have fought before in 2021, with the fight ending in the first round due to a controversial eye poke; since then, Muhammad has been hounding “Rocky” for a rematch. “Remember The Name” was more active than ever after the conclusion of UFC 296, and his intensity reached new heights, especially in response to Edwards’ coach advocating for a title defense against Gilbert Burns next:

“Leon’s opinion doesn’t matter,” Muhammad remarked. “His coach doesn’t matter. The only person that I care about is Dana [White] and he gave me his word. That’s all that matters. We’re next and the fact they’re showing fear only gives me more confidence. You should be afraid.”

Edwards was quick to reply, calling Muhammad the “least intimidating” fighter in the UFC:

“Belal calm down son you’re the least intimidating person in the organisation,” Edwards replied. “I already told UFC I don’t mind I’ll fight you next that’s easy work. You just have to figure out why they hate you so much.”

Muhammad’s eye poke No-Contest against Edwards marks the only blemish on his nine-fight UFC win streak. Fans and pundits have found it hard to get behind the American fighter because of his fighting style and 26% finish rate. However it may seem, fights are typically deemed on merit, and Muhammad is difficult to deny at this point in time.
