Few UFC stars are brushing shoulders with international sporting megastars like Ilia Topuria.
UFC vs. PFL: What’s the Difference?
Topuria was crowned the UFC featherweight champion in February 2024 and has grown exponentially popular with his Spanish audience ever since. His latest endeavour has involved training with former Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos, which fans are privy to on Ramos’s 64M follower Instagram account. Watch below:
Topuria is seen walking Ramos through some of his patented boxing head movements, which he has utilised many times in the UFC to flatline his opponents. This includes guiding Ramos through slipping a 1-2 and rolling under a left hook from an orthodox opponent.
Topuria: The Next UFC Superstar?
For as much backing as he’s had from the UFC, Topuria’s ascent is unprecedented. He was a relative unknown before demolishing Josh Emmett and Alexander Volkanovski in back-to-back fights. Now, it seems only the sky is the limit for his popularity.
ONE Championship vs. UFC: What’s The Difference?
It’s a hard pill to swallow for MMA fans that the sport is a mile wide and an inch deep, but Topuria has the opportunity to bring significant attention to the sport in Europe. His die-hard fanbases from Georgia and Spain will be tuned in when he makes his first title defense against Max Holloway this October at UFC 308. A decisive victory over Holloway will no doubt launch Topuria into superstardom, and the UFC could have another Conor McGregor-level talent on their hands if they play their cards right.
