Michael Chandler Reveals Mental Struggles With Conor McGregor Fight

Michael Chandler Opens up on Mental Struggles With Conor McGregor Fight

Michael Chandler revealed he has struggled with imposter syndrome after being scheduled to fight Conor McGregor.

It probably wouldn’t be so bad for Chandler if they could settle on a fight date. The two dynamite fighters were booked to set the Octagon ablaze at UFC 303 before McGregor withdrew with an injured toe. Since then, Chandler has been shelved while videos of McGregor partying and enjoying his yacht surface on X. Anybody would be demoralised in this situation, and at 38, Chandler is no different.

“[My inner voice] does not think I deserve this fight,” Chandler said in an interview with Action Network. ” … I think we all have that little guy or that little gal inside of us. And I think it’s also okay to open up about it. It seems more genuine, and it’s more authentic: to speak about your [struggles, shortcomings, and doubts], because if you act like you are impenetrable and you’re bulletproof, it’s an unattainable psychology.

Chandler was born in High Ridge, Missouri, a small town of only several thousand. “… I was a small guy from a small town who was taught to do small things,” Chandler continued. “… I have continued to climb out of that box my entire career.”
