UFC 300 Results: Deiveson Figueiredo Taps Cody Garbrandt in Curtain-Jerker Fight

UFC 300’s curtain-jerker fight has ended quickly, with Deiveson Figueiredo winning his second bantamweight bout by submitting Cody Garbrandt in the second round.

It was classic ‘No Love’ in the first round as Garbrandt darted around his Brazilian foe, beating him to the punch and denying takedown attempts. The American easily stole the opening round, gearing up to create a considerable upset.

‘Figgy’ adjusted in the second round, opting to take the fight to the ground where he shined. After securing a takedown, Figueiredo secured a tight arm-triangle, but it was clear that Garbrandt wouldn’t quit right there- especially with a $300,000 bonus on the line.

Garbrandt tried to use his physicality to burst out from bottom position but unintentionally offered up his neck. Figueiredo snatched up a rear-naked choke and tapped out his American adversary late in the second round.

In his post-fight interview, the Brazilian demanded a bantamweight title shot, either against Sean O’Malley later this year or presumably against the winner of Merab Dvalishvili vs. O’Malley.
