As we all prepare to watch footballers roll around at the slightest breeze tomorrow at the Euros final, note this fight at UFC Denver.
Jean Silva vs. Drew Dober was a frontrunner for the fight of the night at UFC Denver on July 14. Both fighters put it all on the line to deliver a spectacle to the audience. The action was cut short in the third round, however, as Dober’s eyebrow literally hung off his face after repeated servings of elbows from Silva. View the injury below at your own discretion:
Silva’s timing in the fight was immaculate. Despite taking the fight on nine days’ notice and in a new weight class, he pieced up Dober with accurate counterpunching and devastating elbows. Silva caught an eager Dober with a spinning elbow straight to the brow in the dying seconds of round one, which caused the cut. He returned to the well several times in round two, opening it further. Some more jabs, hooks, and elbows in round three saw it become more of a laceration, and Dober’s eyebrow hung off his face in a morbid fashion.
No doubt Silva will match up against a ranked opponent in his next UFC appearance, whether in featherweight or lightweight. Regardless, fighters should be put on notice with this performance.
